Public Speaking and Debating helps to develop critical thinking skills and improve verbal and nonverbal skills. At St Margaret Mary's College, the importance of the development of these skills is recognised through our engagement with Public Speaking and Debating.
Public Speaking will continue to flourish in 2018 and we will participate in a range of competitions including Lions Youth of the Year, Rostrum and The Laracy Public Speaking Competition. The Laracy Public Speaking competition allows us to compete against Marist College Ashgrove via Skype. This is a wonderful opportunity for our school and always an entertaining afternoon for our speakers. We have proudly help the winning plate for the past three years and look forward to a strong competition in October.
Public Speaking and Debating are important aspects of a wide range of diverse activities that we offer to our students at St Margaret Mary’s College to encourage them to flourish and become life-long learners.
